The ground
A growing town in southern Huila, on the slopes above the Magdalena river. Warm days, cool nights and altitude around 1,500 to 1,900 m.
The variety
Gesha was carried out of Ethiopian forest in the 1930s, held in research gardens, and recognised again in Panama in 2004. The name now travels ahead of almost any coffee variety.
Colombian growers in Huila, Cauca and Quindío work with the same lineage. A name may open the door; the sample still has to earn its place on the table.
